The Good Wife

Everyone needs to watch this show, especially those of us who live in Chicago. It takes place in the Windy City, and centers around Alicia Florek, wife of Peter Florek, disgraced DA of Chicago that was caught having an affair with a prostitute. In the wake of the scandal, Alicia goes back to work as a lawyer to support her family while her husband is in jail, and each episode usually focuses around a case that Alicia is working on with her firm. In addition, the storyline of Peter Florek and how it affects everyone plays in the background of every episode, and makes the series extremely compelling.

This series has everything: romance, intrigue, mystery, politics, and only semi-annoying children. The supporting cast is amazing, and Will and Diane are great foils as the firms partners. Last season was great, resulting in Emmy nominations, and this season is shaping up to be just a good. I especially enjoy the love triangle between Alicia, Peter, and Will, mainly because it is understated, and a true conflict for Alicia, who has reasons to be with both men. The moral ambiguity and flawed characters that I crave for in other shows (Nikita, Hawaii Five-O, Undercovers) is what makes this show so amazing.

The Emmy nominations were deserved, in my opinion, and it's easy to jump into at this point of the series, so hop on the Florek train, and enjoy this well scripted, well acted series.
