Undercovers Series Premiere

J.J. Abrams is back with a new series Undercovers, or what I like to call: "Sydney and Vaughn: the Later Years." The series follows a spy couple that come out of retirement after being away from the business for 5 years. Starring two actors so hot, it's just not fair to the rest of the world, the series premiere gives us a bit of the back story, plenty of action, and a good dose of humor.

Steven and Samantha Bloom (Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw) are an incredibly attractive spy couple that met at the CIA, but (brace yourselves) have never worked in the field together. How's that for a twist? Running a catering company, the couple work together to help the CIA find a friend, resulting in the realization that they miss the spy life. They agree to work occasional missions for the CIA, and the premise for the rest of the series is set.

Being a huge fan of Alias, the series premiere didn't disappoint. It has a lighter tone than Alias, but with the same amount of action. The romance between the leads can be sickeningly sweet (I'm not a cynic...usually...), and the side kick role leaves something to be desired (nobody can beat Marshall), but overall, this was a strong first showing.

Give the series a shot, even if you don't like it, at least you'll have graced your eyes with the gorgeous-ness of the Blooms.

  2. They are sickeningly attractive. And she dresses way too well for CIA. 5 inch heels? How can you possibly chase after bad guys?! But I'm still watching anyways.
